Yuan Jiang is a tenured professor of organization and human resources at the School of Management, Harbin Institute of Technology. He also serves as an adjunct professor and DBA advisor at emLyon Business School. Prior to joining HIT, he was on the faculty of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Indiana University-Purdue University at Fort Wayne, and Lingnan College at Sun Yat-Sen University. He received his MS and PhD in Industrial Relations and Human Resources from Rutgers University (New Brunswick, NJ), and his BA and MA in Economics from Sun Yat-Sen University (Guangzhou, China). His primary research interests include leading and managing collaborative, innovative work and human resource management in global and Chinese indigenous contexts. Current research projects focus on the workplace diversity, leadership, and management systems for knowledge workers and teams.
Professor Jiang has published in Academy of Management Journal, Human Resource Management, IEEE Transaction on Engineering Management, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Research in Personnel and Human Resource Management, etc. He is currently on the editorial board of Human Relations (a FT 50 journal), on the advisory board for IIMK Society and Management Review, and a guest editor for Journal of General Management and Complexity. Professor Jiang’s research has been funded by multiple National Natural Science Foundation of China.
Professor Jiang has won International Human Resource Management Scholarly Research Award from the HR Division of Academy of Management (2016). His papers were selected as a finalist for Best Conference Paper Award - Micro Paper Track of International Association for Chinese Management Research Conference (2014), and included in the Academy of Management Conference Best Paper Proceedings (2010, 2011). He earned Outstanding Reviewer for the Organizational Behavior Division in the Academy of Management Conference (2008) and J. R. Beyster Employee Ownership Fellowship (2009). He was an International Faculty Fellow at MIT Sloan School of Management (2002).
In addition to his research, Professor Jiang has been recognized for his excellent teaching at various levels and won University Candle Light Teaching Award and Shanghai MBA Case Teaching First Prize Award. Professor Jiang provides training workshops and consulting services to organizations especially on organizational diagnosis, behavioral analysis, and intervention.
