Caohejing Hi-Tech Carnival is officially opened on September 4th as a branding event to boost the construction of Shanghai Global Innovation Center. Professor William Hua WANG, Associate Dean of emlyon business school, Dean of emlyon Asia, French Dean of AEBS is invited to attend the forum as a guest at the opening ceremony to discuss the new trend of 5G and AI with experts and scholars from various fields.

Opening Forum: Releasing 5G Driving Force and Empowering the New Future with Wisdom

China entered the 5G era when the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued 5G licenses in June, marking the start of the commercial use of 5G. At the same time, AI has become the core driving force behind the new round of industrial reform, exerting a profound impact on world economy, social progress and human life.

Guests who participate in the round-table dialogue include Professor William Hua WANG, Associate Dean of emlyon business school, Dean of emlyon Asia, French Dean of AEBS, Du Weiwei, vice president of UNIIN Shanghai, Chen Long, famous actor and investor of Casting app, Wang Jialiang, CEO of CooTek and Gu Jianmin, CTO of Valeo China. The five guests, who come from different fields, have shared their views on the future life featuring interconnectedness of all things.

Currently, 5G and AI have become one of the hottest topics. In his Homo Deus:A Brief History of Tomorrow, the famous Israeli scholar Yuval Noah Harari describes a pessimistic picture of the age of artificial intelligence which will create two kinds of people, "Homo sapiens" and “a class of useless people”.

So, how should “I” actively prepare for my career and avoid being replaced by artificial intelligence and machines? To answer these questions, Professor WANG offers his thinking and two key solutions: "AI, EI and CI in one" and "social responsibility going with humanistic care."

In the age when 5G and AI overlap, the greatest challenge we face is to provide productivity-creating solutions by combining the complex technologies from different fields. And that, precisely, requires people with higher emotional intelligence (EI) to achieve efficient integration of complex projects through CI-Co Intelligence.

"Only through integrating with talents’ EI and CI can AI produce great value. Therefore, as a leading business school, we pay more attention to the cultivation of EI and CI of talents in AI-related fields."

In addition, Professor WANG says that while promoting the development of science and technology, we need to pay special attention to the new challenges and humanistic care of corporate social responsibility and avoid further deterioration of such problems as inequality, prejudice and data security, and actively create a better society.

Justine Cassell, the co-chairman of the World Economic Forum Global Future Council on Computing and Associate Dean in the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University, is a top expert in Human-Computer Interaction and often affectionately called by many as the "Queen of Artificial Intelligence." At the forum, she has delivered a speech titled "Artificial Intelligence in the 5G Era". As she believes, 5G's vision is good, but we must get ready to take advantage of its positive aspects and ensure that no negative consequences occur.

Professor He Jifeng, China's computer software expert, director of Shanghai AI Security Commission and academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, gives a speech on "New Generation AI Empowering Industrial Economy". Academician He Jifeng says that the increasing maturity and penetration of various new technologies, including the advent of 5G, have created new environment and changes as well for the rapid development of AI.

Mr. Lu Houjun, president of GP Capital Co., Ltd., has been named "Forbes China’s Top Venture Investors" for six consecutive years. He proposes three changes in the 5G era, including the wireless network construction brought about by the 5G high-frequency band, the changes in the business model of operators, and the emergence of new application scenarios, and that these changes will also generate many new investment directions.
