On 21 December, Beijing grandly stages the 2019 emlyon business school Asia Annual Gala, bringing together hundreds of emlyon’s faculties, students, alumni, business partners, cooperative universities and media guests from all over the world.

The 2019 emlyon Asia Annual Gala, which has WHYTEWOOLF as the exclusive title sponsor, consists of two sessions - early makers of the Digital Future Forum and annual gala themed early makers Shaping a Better World. The forum invited Mr. Shan Jixiang, Director of the Institute of Gugong Studies and former chief curator of the Palace Museum, as a keynote speaker. Mr. Shan delivered his speech "Integrating Traditional Culture into the Present and Future - An Exploration and Reflection on the Digital Cultural Creativity of the Forbidden City" to the audience in a humorous way, not only revealing the essence of the digitalization of the Forbidden Citybut also leaking the “secret” of how to duplicate “cyber-star” products in the age of digital transformation. At the end of his speech, Mr. Shan sent books with his autograph as well as good wishes to emlyon.

Immediately after that was a panel discussion centering “How to Be a Guardian of Culture in the Digitalized Future?”. With Secretary General of Yicai Foundation Ms Peng Jia as the moderator, the panelists include William Hua Wang, Associate Dean of emlyon and dean of emlyon Asia; Ms. Ding Wenxuan, professor of artificial intelligence and business analysis of emlyon; Mr. Shi Jiayou, law professor and Director of the Center for Research on Legal Systems in French-speaking Countries, Renmin University; and Mr. Wei Jiadong, CEO of Dongshi Brand Consulting (Beijing) Co., Ltd.

“The year 2019 is a year of rapid growth for emlyon Asia, with a 45% increase in student headcount. The student-led Asia Annual Gala has set a new high for attendance.” Professor William Hua Wang shared with the audience the latest news that emlyon ranked among the top 20 in the newly released FT European business school rankings. According to Professor WANG, in 2019, emlyon established three innovation centers for sports, HR and Intelligent business in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen respectively, further promoting the establishment of industry-university-research platform. emlyon will forge ahead, never forgetting its original aspiration.

Shouldering Corporate Social Responsibility and Deepening School-Enterprise Cooperation for Common Development

Currently, the principal sectors of economy worldwide are undergoing the transformation from industrial mass production to digital economy, service economy and innovation-driven economy. As a future-oriented business school, emlyon business school Global HR & Organization Innovation Center (GHOIC) just released its Great Future Art Collection of HR Thinking, the first of its kind in the world. While building a brand-new talent training system, emlyon also pays close attention to the new challenges and humanistic concerns arising from corporate social responsibility. Since 2016, emlyon Asia has made constant contribution to sustainable society by setting up the Good Business Center in conjunction with National Business Daily. During the Annual Gala, Zhang Xiang, academic director of emlyon business school Good Business Center, launched the Good Business Initiative and 2020 Business Cases Collection together with the guests on the stage.

At the Annual Gala, Professor William Hua WANG signed strategic cooperation agreements with WHYTEWOOLF and ROQUETTE China respectively. Jiang Tong, CEO of China Elite Management Consulting Co.,Ltd, was awarded the certificate of “Director of emlyon business school - China Elite Global Innovation Management - EMBA Core Course Program”. Later, Mr. Matthew Gong, Director of Alibaba eCommerce Talent Program, aired his outlook on developing the joint initiative between emlyon and Alibaba E-commerce Talent Program in the space of digital education in 2020.

As an important part of the emlyon alumni network, emlyon alumni North China has continued to thrive, bringing diverse activities to emlyon Asia alumni in 2019. The alumni life-long learning program is one of the most amazing services ever offered.

“In the short eight months since the founding of emlyon alumni North China, through one meeting, two dinners, three competitions, four forums and N Salons and other rich online and offline activities, we have brought together our alumni from different grades and projects. We expect to better serve our alumni, learn together and share resources,” said Wei Jiadong, Vice President and Secretary General of emlyon alumni North China and GEMBA 2018 Spring intake, when recounting in his annual review the moments of joy, tears, glory and sweat.

The development of the emlyon alumni Asia would not have been so robust without the full support of the student alumni. At this important moment, the emlyon business school Alumni Awards were officially promulgated. The awards included Alumni Bole Award, Alumni Service Award, Alumni Contribution Award, Alumni Co-creation Award and the Alumni Outstanding Contribution Award of the Year, to commend and thank student alumni for their untiring efforts in delivering services to emlyon alumni. The winners of the annual outstanding contribution award include Shen Qiang, chairman of WHYTEWOOLF, graduate of emlyon-Vning EDP Program for Global Sports and Recreation Industry Leaders; Fang Haolong, founder of Beijing Chuangcache, participant of emlyon-BUPT GEMBA 2018 Spring Intake; Zhang Huabing, founder of Fun Game, graduate of emlyon-Vning EDP Program for Global Sports and Recreation Industry Leaders. The three winners made a statement respectively and thanked emlyon for its efforts, all showing a willingness to contribute to emlyon and its alumni network.

As an ace activity, emlyon business school 15th Gobi Challenge Launch and Sponsor Award Ceremony were also held successfully at the Annual Gala. In the 14th Gobi Challenge, emlyon-Chuangcache Team, led by Fang Haolong, CEO of Chuangcache and GEMBA 2018 Spring intake, won three awards - the Highest Popularity Award, the Sackleton Award and Progress Award. When marching to the stage, more than 40 students who applied to take part in the 15th Gobi Challenge shouted the slogan “emlyon-Chuangcache, unstoppable” and accepted the team pennant and good wishes from Mr. Zhang Weiwei. At the same time, Yan Bo, COO of Chuangcache and GEMBA 2019 Autumn intake, also delivered a speech, saying that he was happy to sponsor the Gobi Challenge again and was looking forward to the success of the team.

During the dinner, GDBA Faculty Staff & students, participants of emlyon business school - China Elite Global Innovation Management - EMBA Core Course Program participants & graduates of GEMBA, presented excellent performance. The exciting Lucky Draw pushed the atmosphere of dinner to a new high.
