In the era of digitalization, the emlyon business school proposes a new concept that will foster the creation of the ‘Early Maker’ into our strategic and educational development goals. In this complex and ever-changing era, we aim to shape early makers and to cultivate entrepreneurs and management elites with a global vision and a spirit of ‘Early Maker’ in the era of digital transformation with the core of globalization and innovation. At the same time, emlyon business school has allocated various resources in the design of the teaching system, teacher allocation, event organization, papers and other aspects around the innovation for the students. Let's take a look at the video and the student's interview below to find out what is the TEM (Transforming Early Maker)!
Here below is the student’s interview after the completion of TEM (Transforming Early Maker) program.
What challenges have TEM brought to students?
When I joined the emlyon business school, the introduction of TEM has instantly attracted me. I can see a good opportunity for self-development through it including personality development, pressure management, team management, team cooperation, diversity, etc. Learning doesn’t mean merely doing boring case-studies, analyzing virtual problems or providing ungrounded solutions beyond reality. TEM is instead an incredible experience for me. I genuinely believe that I can learn many new things every day and new skills.

Which group did you choose?
I joined the ‘Artificial Intelligence’ group because I love freedom and enjoy any opportunities which can use new technologies to change the current business model and the business world today. In this group, what could restrict us was the imagination. I think it’s cool! Also, I’m very interested in block chains and the connections between IA and IOT. I believe these will boost more innovative technologies.
What does ‘TEM’ mean to you?
TEM (Transforming Early Maker) can inspire all our ideas and initiatives. We gained laughter and confusions. We have anger and dreams. We had exciting discussions which hurt our brains. We fully demonstrated our innovation and imagination when we encountered anxiety.
The challenges which lasted for several months enabled me to work with different people from different backgrounds. In our group, we had engineers, pharmacist, lawyer, financier and marketer. We had various experiences thus we had to learn how to know and understand each other to build a true team that strive towards the same goal. This experience made us truly proud of ourselves.
From the perspective of team structure, emlyon business school fully supported us via different types of activities during the whole process which helped us constructed and enriched the way of thinking. In hence, we organized meetings on various topics(e.g. CK method, the design of thinking, etc.). Professors and tutors also joined the event and coached us.
What have you achieved?
At the beginning of the project, we set several goals for each team. Afterwards,we had to eliminate most of the immature ideas in the following weeks. This was a crue land subtle moment because we had to make final decision among the remaining three projects and presented the final one to our angel investors. Eventually, we developed a new model, simplified the decision-making process and chose the best project, but none of them was easy!
Moreover, the panel discussion named ‘IA, IoT, Block Chain: what will become the potential development engine for future companies?’ organized by us was a total hit with more than 230 participants attended it. We were very proud of ourselves!
What has TEM brought to you?
TEM (Transforming Early Maker) has brought a lot to me: It helped us better understand ourselves so that we can better control ourselves. We were asked to make a lot of quick yet important decisions among several proposals and make attempts between hypothesis and reality. We have also developed a global digital approach. The entire participation made me extremely touched.
Nowadays, being an early maker means having a full control of his/her fate, becoming an actor and entrepreneur of his/her own journey of life and realizing the transformation from oneself to the others in a collaborative spirit. Today's entrepreneurs must combine such quick execution and anticipation, and take the initiatives to implement the ideas. The emlyon business school invites you to join us and become an “early maker”, to learn from our excellent exemplars, to achieve your goals and present your own ideas using resources from different fields.
