Students from MSc in International Marketing and Business Development (IMBD) and MSc in Global Innovation & Entrepreneurship (GIE) recently completed a ten-week immersive academic and practical experience in Vietnam. Combining classroom instruction with field visits, students engaged deeply with local enterprises and communities, gaining invaluable insights into Southeast Asia’s dynamic economies and multicultural landscape.

MSc in IMBD: Navigating Nature and Business in Harmony

The journey began in Hanoi, where professors introduced the course framework and presented students with personalized postcards carrying words of encouragement. Beyond academic sessions, students actively participated in a wide array of cultural and business immersion activities.

In Ninh Binh—often dubbed “Halong Bay on land”—students explored stunning karst landscapes by boat, experiencing the serene beauty of Northern Vietnam’s countryside. Divided into groups, they visited local enterprises across diverse sectors, enhancing their understanding of Vietnam’s cultural richness and economic diversification. The journey continued to Ho Chi Minh City, where students explored the Mekong Delta’s agricultural and ecological systems, observing the honey production process and daily life on water.

The program concluded with a graduation event attended by representatives from French companies in Vietnam and partner university faculty, celebrating the students’ achievements with music, food, and reflections on a transformative learning experience.

MSc in GIE: Unlocking Vietnam’s Developmental Dynamics

GIE students, led by instructors from CFVG (Centre Franco-Vietnamien de Formation à la Gestion), explored the socio-economic fabric of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City through a series of in-depth field visits.

They visited local craft villages, coconut processing facilities, rice paddies, and the natural landscapes of Ninh Binh, developing a grounded understanding of Vietnam’s economic infrastructure. A major highlight was their participation in the “2025 France-Vietnam Economic Forum,” where they engaged in dialogue with representatives of French enterprises to explore the potential and emerging trends within the Vietnamese and broader Southeast Asian markets.

While the academic modules built theoretical foundations, the hands-on experiences allowed students to bridge classroom learning with real-world applications—gaining critical insights into entrepreneurial ecosystems and sustainable development.

Global Learning for Global Careers

Through this international study tour, students from both programs enhanced their academic knowledge while sharpening their intercultural communication skills and global perspectives. This cross-border educational experience not only brought them closer to the realities of Vietnam’s development but also laid a solid foundation for their future global endeavors.

Applications for emlyon’s 2026 intake of Master’s programs are expected to open in October!
